Our Place

Our Story

With a name like Joe’s Place, the question we get asked the most (and rightly so) is “Who is Joe?”

Joe is Mary’s brother who passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 1999. He was an eclectic guy who loved books, especially history, and after work he would go to a locally owned bar and hang out with friends. The discussions were often about the books they were reading, which resulted in debates about various topics. Although he would never have called it a book club, the concept was the same. Joe lived life to the fullest, and we are thankful for the time we had with him. He would have loved our bookstore.

We are very excited about our name, our business, and being a part of the downtown Greenville community. We hope you make new friends at Joe’s Place, in print and in person!

“Any book you have not read is a new book.”

Meet our Team

Joe’s Place is a family-owned book store, which treasures the atmosphere just as much as the books.

Happy Readers

“Visited Joe’s Place for the first time recently while I was in Greenville and was blown away by the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. The pour over I ordered was great and the wine my wife had was equally as fantastic. They had an awesome selection of new and used books and neat gifts,…
