“Always read something that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.” – P.J. O’Rourke

It has been over five years since we first opened Joe’s Place. This opportunity allowed us to meet incredible people and have some wonderful experiences with them. We have also had the pleasure of building vendor relationships throughout those years.

While it has been an incredible journey, after much consideration we have decided to close Joe’s Place at the end of this year. This decision is mainly driven from a personal perspective since we both turned 60 this year (thus the 120 years old) and are now focusing on moving towards our retirement.

As one of our valued vendors we wanted to advise you of this before we go public with our announcement. In the last two months of this year we will continue with “business as usual” and we ask that you continue to support us through this time.

We are in the process of listing the property for sale but would also be very interested in selling the business and / or the assets. The building is being listed by Deanna Hudgens, owner of Signature Commercial Properties LLC. She can be reached through email at Deanna@Signature-SCP.com or phone 864-517-4600.

Thank you for your partnership with Joe’s Place throughout the years. You are a part of our family and we appreciate you!

Thank you,

Mary & Alix Bernard

“Just love this place. Always feel welcome”

“Love Joe’s Place! They have a great selection of books. They have old books from the late 1800s to your Tom Clancy and Mario Puzo thrillers and even children’s books. They also have plenty of comfy seats around the store so that if you do find a book, you can jump right into it.”

“One of my very favorite downtown destinations, Joe’s! Such interesting browsing, wonderful treasures, and relaxing atmosphere. So happy you and all your book are here!”

“Visited Joe’s Place for the first time recently while I was in Greenville and was blown away by the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff. The pour over I ordered was great and the wine my wife had was equally as fantastic. They had an awesome selection of new and used books and neat gifts,…
